Tom Petty "Wildflowers" vinyl reissue

Finally.

Today I received word that Tom Petty's 1994 solo album "Wildflowers" will receive the reissue treatment on vinyl, which is a long time coming. The original is extremely hard to find, and often fetches prices far into the $300-$500 range depending on condition. For many, including me, Wildflowers sees Petty at his best. Tom even thought so himself! I have been waiting for this news for a while now, and I'm anxiously awaiting the release in mid October.

I had previously accepted that I will never own this record, so I am very happy to be wrong. I do, however, have the original CD copy in the special-edition chipboard slipcover.

As a perk, this record is being offered in a wide variety of options. The "regular" edition is a 3-LP set, with 2 discs containing the original album, and an additional disc with 10 extra songs, including 5 previously un-released tracks. The "deluxe" edition is a 7-LP set with 4 added discs dedicated to live performances, and an indie-exclusive "super deluxe" 9-LP version with a bunch of added goodies. I have the regular copy on pre-order at one of my favorite DSM record shops, ZZZ Records.
